ASTM D6803-19 describes the requirements for the chamber test facility, the small-scale test chamber, the clean air supply system, the environmental controls, the environmental monitoring and data acquisition system, and the chamber air sampling system.
This standard requires the use of an environmentalchamber testing facility and an air sample collection system.
Procedure for Test Specimen Preparation
Prior to application of paint or coating for emissions testing, perform practice applications using the same type of applicator(for example, a roller or brush) and substrate in order to develop a technique that produces uniform and repeatable applications. The VOC emission characteristics willbe influenced by the thickness of the product applied and care should be taken to ensure uniform application. It is recommended that wet and dry film thickness of the applied paint or coating be determined by Test Methods D1212 and D1005, respectively, to verify the uniformity of application.
