BS/EN 13375-2019 pdf download.Flexible sheets for waterproofing – Waterproofing of concrete bridge decks and other concrete surfaces trafficable by vehicles – Specimen preparation.
For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions given in EN 14695. EN 170482) and the
following apply.
ISO and IEC maintain terminological databases for use in standardization at the following addresses:
• IEC Electropedia: available at http://www.electropedia.org/
• ISO Online browsing platform: available at http://www.iso.orgJobp

spec I men
— Type 1: base specimen with primer if any, and the applied waterproofing sheet;— Type 2: flexible
sheet applied with the asphalt layer;— Type 3; base specimen with applied waterproofing system and
applied asphalt layer
3.6

4 Specimens
Specimens for the different performance related tests are defined in the relevant standards dealing with the testing of flexible sheets.
If a waterproofing system defined by the producer does not include an asphalt layer as a protection layer, an asphalt layer, according to Clause 7. shall be laid onto the waterproofing system, Figure l.a.
If a layer, e.g. mastic asphalt, is used as a protection layer in the waterproofing system, Figure 1.b, no asphalt layer shall be put onto the waterproofing system to fabricate the specimens.
5.2 Specification of the concrete
Composition, properties, manufacturing, curing and storing of the concrete slabs shall be in accordance with EN 1766 and concrete type MC (0,45) as specified In EN 1766:2017. 6.3.1.2, 6.4 and 6.5. The use of CEM 1 52.5 N according to EN 197-1 Is also allowed.
The surface shall be clean, dry and free of all dust or laitance.
NOTE This can be done by grit-blasting.
5.3 Surface roughness
The surface on which the waterproofing system is applied shall have a surface texture of 0,5 mm to 1,0 mm, which shall be measured according to EN 13036-1.
NOTE If necessary. this roughness can be obtained by grit-blasting or high-pressure water-’etting.
6 Application of the waterproofing system
The waterproofing system shall be applied on base specimen concrete slabs as described in this document or in the relevant test standard.
NOTE I To avoid the Influence of vibrations during compaction, the concrete slabs can he laid on flat ground using a soft intermedIate layer (e.g. sand).
NOTE 2 The required number of slabs Is prepared according to the number of intended tests and test methods.
It might be advantageous to hold them together by a stiff frame. Figure 2 gives an example of this procedure.
Alternatively, the base specimens can he prepared separately for each test.
The waterproofing system shall be applied in accordance with the instructions from the manufacturer. The type and amount of primer (bituminous, resin etc.) and adhesive bitumen (in the case of pour-and- roll technique system) shall be within the range defined by the manufacturer.
NOTE 3 For torch-on systems, it Is important that a uniform welding wave Is produced during application.
For pour-and-roll technique systems, the temperature of the adhesive bitumen shall be checked during melting and application and shall not exceed temperature ranges recommended by the manufacturer. It is advised to pay attention not to overheat the polymer bitumen.
After cooling to room temperature, the waterproofing shall be cut along the edges of the concrete slabs to obtain individual specimens to prepare for the different tests. The asphalt layer shall be applied in accordance with 22 of this document.
7.1 Specifications
7.1.1 General
The following types of overlay shall be used for testing the performance related characteristics according to EN 14695 and EN 17O48:):
— Overlay of mastic asphalt applied at 220 °C to 250 °C (MA);
— Overlay of low temperature mastic asphalt (LMA) applied at a minimum temperature of < 220 °C (LMAmIn) and maximum temperature < 250 °C (LMAmax);
— Overlay of asphalt concrete applied at (160 ± 10) °C (AC);
— Overlay of porous asphalt applied at (125 ± 10) °C (PA).
7.1.2 Mastic asphalt (MA, LMA)
MA according to EN 13108-6 with the following specification shall be used:
— MA8orMA6.3;
— BmjnH,O,
— Laying temperature; 220 °C to 250 °C;
— Thickness: (40 ± 5) mm.
LMA according to EN 13108 with the following specification shall be used:
— MA8orMA6.3;
— Brnj,iBo;
— Laying temperature: minimum of< 220°C (LMAmin) and maximum < 250°C (LMAmax):
— Thickness: (40 ± 5) mm.
7.1.3 Asphalt concrete (AC)
AC according to EN 13108-1 with the following specification shall be used:
