BS/EN 13451-10-2018 pdf download.Swimming pool equipment Part 10: Additional specific safety requirements and test methods for diving platforms, diving springboards and associated equipment.
4.2.4 Clearance zones
Clearance zones shall comply with E, F and G of Table 2 and with Figure 1. For safety barriers within the clearance zone, see 4.5.
4.3 Diving springboards
4.3.1 General
For diving springboards type 1 and type 2, the Installation of the equipment shall comply with the safety requirements and dimensions given in Table 3 and Table 4.
The installation of portable diving springboards type 2 shall comply also with the specific requirements given by the manufacturer/supplier/importer (characteristics of the location and its capacity to bear the loads caused by the equipment and by the action of the user). Adjustable fulcrums are not allowed for type 2 diving springboards.
Particular attention shall be paid to avoid glare and reflecting surfaces, which can disturb the vision of the diver.
In Europe, outdoor diving facilities should face north.
The design and Installation of the fulcrum assembly and of the board rear fixings shall comply with the specifications and requirements of the diving springboard manufacturer. The range of allowed positions of the fulcrum shall be clearly and permanently marked on the springboard.
4.3.2 Dimensions
The dimensions indicated in Figures 5 to 9 and Table 3 and Table 4 shall be complied with. The design of the equipment doesn’t need to comply with the examples given.
Diving springboards shall be horizontal.
When the design and the width of a platform holding a springboard allow users to dive from it, then the platform shall extend up to the same plane of the pool edge, see Figure 7. When the platform holding one or more springboards is intended also for diving, it shall conform to the requirements of a 3 m high diving platform.
The minimum dimensions of the springboards type I shall have a minimum usable width of 0.5 m and the complete board length shall be reserved to the diver.
The minimum dimensions of the diving springboards type 2 installed in pools for public use shall comply with Table 3.
4.3.5 Clearance zones
Clearance zones shall comply with E, F and G of Table 4 and with Figure S. For safety barriers within the clearance zone, see 4.5.
4.4 Means of access
4.4.1 General
Diving platforms and springboards typc 1 shall be accessible by suitable stairs, by stepladders or by ramps, supplemented in some cases by lifts that do comply with relevant official regulations. Ladders are not allowed.
Springboards type 2 with the board height 500 mm ≤ h ≤ 700 mm from the pool surround shall be fitted with one step at a heights 400 mm. Springboards type 2 higher than 700 mm shall be fitted with stepladders or stairs.
N01i 1 Preferred height of the step = 1/2 of height of the springboard from the pool surround.
When the diving facilities are closed, the access shall be suitably prevented.
NOTE 2 When stairs are used, access from the side is preferred.
4.4.2 Stepladders for diving facilities
Access to diving facilities higher than 3 m shall not be designed as continuous stepladders. Stepladders shall have an inclination between 600 and 750 with the floor.
The stepladders (see Figure 10) shall have handrails on both sides, at a distance s 700 mm, having the same inclination of the stepladder itself, and a clearance to the front edge of the steps between 120 mm and 180 mm. When stepladders lead to a height where safety barriers are required, their handrails shall merge into them.
For the dimensions of the parts designed to be gripped, see EN 1345 1-2
The treads of stepladders shall have a depth between 70 mm and 250 mm, and the maximum vertical distance between the top surfaces of two adjacent treads shall be 250 mm. The clear opening between two adjacent treads shall be minimum 110 mm. The front edge of any upper tread and the back edge of the adjacent lower tread shall overlap.BS/EN 13451-10-2018 pdf download.
