BS/EN 17099-2020 pdf download.Information technology — Fishery and aquaculture products — Requirements for labelling of distribution units and pallets in the trade of fishery and aquaculture products.
5.2 General principles for labelling logistic units (Pallets)
5.2.1 Overview
The logistic label shall contain data attributes relating to the logistic unit and the products it contains, whereas the transport label shall contain data attributes relating to the consignor (sender), the consignee (recipient), transporters of the logistic unit and/or data relating to the order. In many cases, a single label may contain both types of data, and this is then referred to as the transport label.
NOTE Two labels could be required on a pallet — the logistic label and a transport label.
Where the logistic label is also serving as a transport label, the label shall be in accordance with EN 1573 or ISO 15394.
The data being printed on the logistic unit labels are to be grouped into a minimum of 4 distinct areas:
1) free format text;
This allows the producer to print their company logo, company name, address and any other material they deem appropriate.
2) text with data titles;
This includes the data attributes which relate to the product contained in the logistic unit as
outlined in Table 5, but other data attributes may also be included.
3) bar codes(s);
This refers to an area on the label where the SSCC or license plate bar codes can be printed in accordance with ISO/IEC 15417. This area may also contain other bar codes as required by the producer, transporters or customers.
4) transport data.
Where transport data are included on the label, a fourth area should contain the transport data. Alternatively, a separate label containing the transport data may be applied. Where the separate transport label contains an SSCC or license plate, this shall be identical to the SSCC or license plate on the logistic label.
5.3.1 Choice between GS1 Application Identifiers or ASC MH 10 Data Identifiers
The purpose of identifiers, according to ISO/IEC 15418, is to identify encoded data. ISO/IEC 15418 recognizes two organizations maintaining such identifiers, each with different industry practices.
The choice between GS1 Application IdentifIers (for more information see Annex C) or ASC MH1O Data Identifiers (for more information see Annex D) for any user will normally be decided by the players in the supply chain of the applicable industry sector. lnteroperability between the two systems below is possible:
— GS1 application identifier secretariat [18].
— ANSI MH1O.8.2 data identifier/ASC MH1O data identifier maintenance committee [19]. 5.3.2 Working with GSI Application Identifiers or ASC MHIO Data Identifiers
This document addresses the use of two identifier systems (e.g GS1 SSCC or ASC MH1O License Plate) for encoding data in bar codes. In order to ensure traceability, the user shall select only one of the two systems to generate the unique identifiers (such as the license plate of a box or pallet).
The GS1 Application Identifiers and the ASC MH1O Data IdentifIers shall not be used together in the same symbol.
Where both systems are used on the same label, the encoded data in both barcodes shall be consistent and accurately reflect the human readable data.
5.4 Bar codes
5.4.1 2D Data Matrix bar code
5.4.1.1 ZD Data Matrix bar code Overview
2D Data Matrix bar code shall comply with the requirements In ISO/IEC 16022 and follow the syntax defined in ISO/IEC 15434 or the syntax defined by GS1.
NOTE GS1 Data Matrix Is identified by the special character FNC1 (FunctIon 1) element that appears after the start code and code set, which identifies It as a GS1 Data Matrix.
5.4.1.2 2D Data bar code dimensions
The area of the bar code is determined by the number of characters and the size of the narrowest module size. The following requirements shall apply to the printing technology.
The 20 Data Matrix shall have a minimum module size of 0,38 mm.BS/EN 17099-2020 pdf download.
