5.5 Power, temperature and pressure control system, forced lubrication system
5.5.1 Refiner drives shall be automatically cut off or reduced to an uncritical level of power before the maximum design temperature is reached. The related control system shall at least comply with the requirements of SIL 1 of EN 61511-1:2004, SIL 1 of EN 62061:2005 or Performance Level PL b of EN ISO 13849-1:2006-1:2008.
NOTE Increasing of the suspension temperature may be created by interruptions of stock flow.
5.5.2 Where the maximum admissible power input defined by the manufacturer is exceeded, the power consumption of the respective refiner drive shall be reduced to an uncritical level below maximum admissible level.
5.5.3 If forced lubrication is used on rotor bearings, the lubrication system shall be provided with automatic monitoring.
5.5.4 Refiner drives shall be automatically cut off or reduced to an uncritical level of power before the maximum design pressure is reached. The related control system shall at least comply with the requirements of SIL 1 of EN 61511-1:2004, SIL 1 of EN 62061 :2005 or Performance Level PL b of EN ISO 13849-1:2008.
5.6 Refining gap adjustment
Where frequent adjustment of the refining gap is required, adjustments shall be made under remote control.
5.7 Energy isolation and dissipation, prevention of unexpected start-up
5.7.1 Devices for energy isolation and dissipation for all sources of power shall be provided in accordance with EN 1034-1:2000÷A1:2010, 581. Disconnection from electrical supply shall comply with EN 60204-1:2006, and EN 60204-11:2000. 5.3. EN 1037:1995+A1:2008 shall be complied with.
5.7.2 For prevention of unexpected start-up following return of power after disruption of supply voltage, the requirements of EN 60204-1:2006. 7.5 shall be satisfied.
5.8 Electrical drive systems
5.8.1 The electrical drive system shall be so designed that the refiner and/or the power transmission elements are protected against overload.
5.8.2 The electric drive system shall be so designed, that the refiner speed does not exceed the design speed, if speed controlled drives are used. The related control system shall comply with at least Performance Level PL b of EN ISO 13849-1:2008 or Safety Integrity Level SIL 1 of EN 62061:2005.
5.9 Power transmission elements
Power transmission elements shall be safeguarded in accordance with EN 1034-1:2000+A1:2010, 5.2,
EN 953:1997+A1:2009 and EN ISO 13857:2008.
5.10 Stock pumps, gate valves, piping
5.10.1 Stock pumps shall comply with the requirements of EN 809:1998+A1:2009.
5.10.2 Crushing and shearing points on gate valves acting under remote controls shall be avoided in accordance with EN 349:1992+A1:2008 or be safeguarded by fixed guards in accordance with EN 953:1997+A1:2009 and EN ISO 13857:2008
5.10.3 Piping shall be marked in compliance with the technical documentation.

5.11 Electrical equipment
5.11.1 The requirements of EN 1034-1:2000+A1:2010, 5.23 and the requirements of EN 60204-1:2006 Clauses 4, 5, 6, 7. 8. 9, 10, 11. 12, 13, 16, 17 and 18 shall be satisfied.
5.11.2 Grounding shall be provided for electrically conductive machine housings, piping and fittings in accordance with EN 60204-1:2006.
5.11.3 For voltages above 1 kV, EN 60204-11:2000 shall be applied.
5.11.4 For electromagnetic compatibility, EN 61000-6-2:2005 shall be applied.
5.12 Hydraulic equipment
The requirements of EN ISO 4413:2010 and EN 1034-1:2000+A1:2010, 5.24 shall be satisfied.
5.13 Pneumatic equipment
The requirements of EN ISO 4414:2010 and EN 1034-1:2000+A1:2010, 5.25 shall be satisfied.
5.14 Equipment and measures for cleaning and maintenance
5.14.1 For operations which cannot be carried out from floor level, working platforms in accordance with the requirements stipulated in EN 1034-1:2000+A1:2010, 5.5 shall be provided.
5.14.2 Multiple screw connection shall be required to open the refiner housing to change the fillings and shall require tools for opening.
5.14.3 Special tools which are not commercially available such as lilting devices facilitating changing of refiner fillings and drive motors shall be provided with the machine.
5.14.4 Provisions shall be made allowing the refining plant to be flushed for cleaning.
5.14.5 Where operations are carried out on cleaning and inspection openings of refiners and piping which are pressurized or carry hot stock or where there is a risk of stock overheating in case of congestion, facilities to prevent unexpected discharge of stock shall be provided.
5.14.6 Pipe openings required for cleaning and inspection shall be located in such a way that the safety distances to power-operated gate blades, pump rotors and refining tools as required by EN ISO 13857:2008 are adhered to.
5.15 Noise
5.15.1 The requirements of EN 1034-1:2000+A1:2010, 5.15 shall be satisfied.
5.15.2 Examples of noise reduction measures to be considered are:
— low-noise drives and transmission elements:
— vibration-cushioned mounting of refiners:
— using expansion joints in pipes;
