EN 246-2003 pdf download.Sanitary tapware – General specifications for flow rate regulators.
The manufacturer is responsible for selecting the class.
NOTE Flow rate regulators with flow rates lying outside the classes specified do not comply with this standard and
therefore cannot be dassified.
8.3 Evaluation of the jet formation
8.3.1 Assembly as specified In 8.2.1.1
8.3.2 Test method test as specified In 8.2.1.2
8.3.3 Requirement for flow rate regulators without aeration
The jet shall be along the axis of the flow rate regulator’s outlet and shall flow continuously over a length of 150 mm at the nominal flow rate for each class ;it shall be neither flattened nor constricted, nor scattered to such an extent that splashing results. It shall remain compact in the pressure range between 0,05 MPa (0,5 bar) and 0,5 MPa (5 bar).
8.3.4 Requirement for flow rate regulators with aeration
At a dynamic pressure of 0,3 MPa (3 bar), the jet shall be regular and compact and shall visually exhibit regular and adequate aeration over a length of 150 mm. It shall remain full and aerated in the pressure range between 0,05 MPa (0,5 bar) and 0,5 MPa (5 bar).
9 Mechanical performance of flow rate regulators under high temperature
9.1 General
The test described is a type test (laboratory test) and not a quality control test carried out during manufacture.
The test is made to ensure that the flow rate regulator. wten submitted alternately to hot and cold water, does not deform, that it operates correctly and that it can be easily dismantled and re-assembled by hand.
Subject the flow rate regulator to a flow rate of approximately 0,1 1/s with hot water at (90 ± 2) °C for a period of 15 mm ± 1mm and then to a flow of cold water at(20 ± 5) °C for a period of 15 mm ± 1mm.
9.2.3 Requirements
After the test, there shall be no visible deformation on the flow rate regulator and no deterioration in operation with regard to flow rate and jet formation.
After inspection verify that the threads are in accordance with subclause 7.1, Table 2 and subclause 7.2, Table 3, and the flow rate is in accordance with subclause 8.2.
10 Mechanical performance of flow rate regulators with plastic housing
10.1 General
The test described is a type test (laboratory test) and not a quality control test carried out during manufacture.
The test is made to ensure that the flow rate regulator will not be deformed, particularly the fine pitch thread of the plastic housing, that it operates correctly and that it can be easily dismantled and reassembled by hand when it is submitted first to a temperature shock test followed by a resistance to high pressure test.
10.2 Test method
10.2.1 Assembly
The flow rate regulator shall be connected in accordance with 8.2.1.1 as shown in Figure 5, It shall be tightened onto the adapter 4 with a torque of (1.5 0/-0,5) Nm.
10.2.2 Test procedure
• Temperature shock test:
Subject the flow rate regulator to a flow rate of approximately 0,1 1/s with hot water at (90 ± 2) °C for a period of 15 mmn ± 1mm. and then to a flow of cold water at (20 ± 5) °C for a period of 15 mm * 1mm.
• High pressure resistance test:
Open the supply circuit and adjust the flow to a dynamic pressure of (0,8 ± 0,02) MPa (8 ± 0,2) bar. Subject the flow rate regulator to a flow of hot water at (65 ± 2) °C for a period of 1 mm and then to a flow of cold water at (20 ±5) °C for a period of 1 mm.
10.2.3 RequIrements
After the test, there shall be no visible deformation of the flow rate regulator and no deterioration in operation with regard to flow rate and jet formation.
After inspection and testing, verity that the flow rate regulator can be easily removed and re-connected to the outlet by hand.
11 Acoustic characteristics
11.1 General
The test described is a type test (laboratory test) and not a quality control test carried out during manufacture.
This clause specifies the test method for classifying flow rate regulators by their acoustic group.
11.2 Procedure
11.2.1 Filling and operating conditions for tapware
These conditions are specified in EN ISO 3822-4.
11.2.2. Test method
11.2.2.1 General
The tests are carried out in accordance with EN ISO 3822-1 and EN ISO 3822-4.
11.2.2.2. SpecIal cases
A test at 0,3 MPa (3 bar) is used for determining the acoustic group of flow rate regulators.
11.3 Requirements
11.3.1 Expression of results
The results of the measurements taken in accordance with EN ISO 3822 are expressed by the acoustic level of in dB(A).EN 246-2003 pdf download.
