UL is proposing an lEC harmonization effort involving UL 1662, the Standard for Electric Chain SawsEC 60745 currently has a Part 2 for these products, Part 2-13, Safety of Hand-Held Motor-OperatedElectric Tools, Part 2: Particular Requirements for Chain Saws. Therefore, UL proposes to adopt lEC60745-2-13 and move it under UL 745. The lEC requirements would then replace UL 1662. A transitiontime for compliance to the new requirements would need to be determined
UL would like to determine the level of lndustry support before proceeding with this effort. Pleasecomplete and return the attached questionnaire form by December 10. 2002.
