EN 13715-2020 pdf download.Railway applications-Wheelsets and bogies – Wheels Tread profile.
This EN 13715 defines the tread profiles of wheels with a diameter equal or greater than 330 mm used on rolling stock submitted to the Directive 2016/797/EU. These profiles apply to new wheels, whether free-standing or assembled as wheelsets, as well as to wheels that require reprofIling during maintenance.

technical specification
document describing the requirements pertaining to specific parameters in addition to the requirements of this document
4 General
Given that this document describes three reference profiles used in Europe, any other profile that does not conform to this document shall be defined in a technical specification.
NOTE The profile is defined in the technical specification, usually agreed on between the railway undertaking and the infrastructure manager.
5 Definition of the tread profile
The tread profile is shown in Figure 1.
The profiles comprise:
— two zones H2 — Sand S — Dl, with fixed geometry;
— a connection zone Dl — Cl, unique to each reference profile, to make a tangential connection at point Ci;
— a zone Ci — Bi (either Bia, or Bib) unique to each reference profile. The coordinates are given in Annexes B, C and 0 for the three reference profiles including point DO;
— a zone 81 (either Bia or Bib) — Al — I, comprising the reverse slope and chamfer, unique to each reference profile. The reverse slope shall be in the range 6.7 % to 15 %.
7 Construction method
7.1 Definition of the axes
The V-axis is parallel to the axis of rotation of the wheel with the positive values towards the external face of the wheel. The Z-axis is perpendicular to the latter with the positive values towards the outside of the wheel. Their origin is at point DO. situated 70 mm from the internal face of the wheel.
7.2 Base profile
The base profile is that obtained with a flange 32,5 mm thick and 28 mm high. All the others are developed from this fundamental profile.
7.3 Profile construction
7.3.1 Profile zone HZ — Dl (flange)
The reference flange (dimensions, centres and radii) is given in Annex A for a flange thickness of 32,5 mm.
The different flange thicknesses are obtained by translating the zones S — Dl, parallel to the V-axis, towards the internal face of the wheel. Annex A gives all the coordinates for flange thicknesses between 28,5 mm and 32.5 mm.
8 Geometric characteristics
8.1 R20,5 connecting radius
The coordinates of the centre Hm of the R20,5 radius are given in Annex A.
8.2 RE and RI 12 mm connecting radii
The coordinates of the REm anti Rim (from Figure 1) centres of the RE and RI radii, are defined relative to DO as follows:
zREm and zRIm = (flange height — 12) mm.
These coordinates are given in Annex A.
8.3 Rfa connecting radius
The values of the Rfa connecting radius as a function of the flange height are given in Table 3.
NOTE The correspondence between the wheel diameter and the minimum (lange height is defined in compliance with the normative documents in force.
8.4 R13 connecting radius
The coordinates of the centre Dm of the R13 radius are given in Annex A.
8.5 Wheel tread
This is defined in Annexes B, C, and D for each of the profile types.
8.6 Reverse slope – Chamfer
The reverse slope shall have a uniform gradient between 6,7 % and 15 % and shall terminate with a 5 mm x 5 mm chamfer.
9 Profiie designation
The profile is designated as follows: “EN 13715 — profile type/flange height/flange thickness/value of the reverse slope used.
The profile type is the reference profile given in Annex B, C or D.EN 13715-2020 pdf download.
