EN 17110-2017 pdf download.Tanks for transport of dangerous goods – Service equipment for tanks – Vapour manifold vent valve.
The vapour manifold vent valve shall be closed during the process of vapour recovery, both loading and delivery.
Self-operating valves shall not compromise the vapour recovery process. Such valves shall be of the resealing type, and shall be designed to prevent unauthorised adjustment of the self-operating mechanism.
When not activated the valve shall return automatically to its passive state.
5.2 Pressure and vacuum breathing
When provided, the pressure and vacuum breathing characteristics shall be:
— pressure relief opening setting shall not exceed 12 KPa (gauge);
— vacuum relief opening setting shall not be less than – 0. Four KPa (gauge).
5.3 Ingress protection
The vapour manifold vent valve shall be designed, or provision made, to meet the requirements of IP 21 in accordance with EN 60529.
5.4 Flow capacity
A flow performance against pressure drop diagram (standard m3/h at 20 °C) shall be provided by the manufacturer for pressure and/or vacuum functions.
5.5 Temperature range
Unless otherwise specified, the design temperature range shall be -20 °C to +50 °C.
Where the vapour manifold vent valve is subjected to more severe conditions, the design temperature range shall be extended to -40 °C or +70 °C as applicable.
5.6 Materials of construction
The manufacturer shall provide, with the equipment, a full material specification for those parts that may come into contact with the substances described in Clause 1.
5.7 Dimensional characteristics
5.7.1 Maximum dimensions
Top mounted valves shall be accommodated within the tank top protection
5.7.2 Flange connection
The electrical resistance between any conductive part of the device which may come into contact with the dangerous goods and its mounting shall not exceed 1 x Li
Provision shall be made for the bonding of its mounting to the tank such that the electrical resistance between the two shall not exceed 10 ft
6 Tests
6.1 General
• Two classes of tests are required: production tests and type tests.
• Test results shall be recorded and maintained in accordance with the manufacturer’s procedures.
• Testing methods and procedures shall conform to EN 12266-1 and EN 12266-2 except as specified within this document.
• Unless otherwise specified, test fluids shall be air or other suitable gas. The choice of the fluid is the responsibility of the manufacturer.
Where the obturator forms part of the pressure containing shell, it may be closed during strength and tightness tests.
6.2 Production tests
6.2.1 General
The number, frequency and sampling methods of production test samples shall be not less than those specified within Iso 2859-1 (AQL of 2,5).
Production tests shall comprise the following:
— internal seat tightness test; and
— operability test.
6.2.2 Internal seat tightness test
6.2.2.1 Valve design not incorporating breathing function
6.2.2.1.1 Valve classification type (for test method selection only)
The valve classification type shall be a check valve as in EN 12266-1:2012, Table A.3.
The valve classification type shall be a gate valve as in EN 12266-1:2012, Table A.3.
6.2.2.2.2 Test pressure
The test pressure shall be:
Over pressure: 8 kPa (gauge)
Under pressure: – 0,4 kPa (gauge)
6.2.2.2.3 Test duration
The test duration shall conform to Table A.4 of EN 12266-1:2012,
6.2.2.2.4 Acceptance criteria
The acceptance criteria shall conform to rate A of EN 12266-1:2012, Table A.S.
6.2.3 OperabilIty test
The operability test shall conform to B.1 of EN 12266-2:2012, B.1.
6.3 Type test
6.3.1 General
A minimum of 2 production samples of each model type shall be type tested to demonstrate the performance and mechanical strength of the design.
NOTE Devices having one design, size and set pressure are considered to be of one model type.
Unless otherwise noted, all type tests shall be performed at maximum and minimum design temperatures. Type tests shall comprise the following:
— Shell strength test,
— Shell tightness test,
— Internal seat tightness test.
— Mechanical endurance test.
6.3.2 Shell strength test
6.3.2.1 Test pressure
The test pressure shall be 400 kPa.EN 17110-2017 pdf download.
