3 Definltfons
For the purjxses of this standard, the definition_s given in prEN 12216 and in the standard in ,)n?uaLin (WI 00033143) apply together with the following.
3.1
water pocket
formed when, wider the action of lireelpitation, the fabric of the external blind, in (‘Xt()dCd p5it0Jl, retuns an(1 accumulates water and sulTers progressive (lefOflIUitlOiL (see FIgure 1)
3.2
lope
angle of the fabric in relation to the horizontal expres.secl in (1egr( (see FIgure 1)
Doe-s not apply to Dutch awning.
drainage holes
holes iimule in the fabric at carefully chosen poiflis allowing the drainage of waler retained by the fabric before waler pockets fonui
3.4
projection
distance AL measured horizontally with the blind in the fully extended p ition, between the wall and the front profile
4 Test COfl(liti()flS
The extended blind is sprayed with a controlled amount of water and its nHrhafllcal irforrnance is tested wider the action of a weight of retained water.
5 Equipment
5.1 Test rig
The test rig is made up of a ngid support in Winch the blind is installed using its fixtures according to the Installation instntchon. For trellis arm and folding arm blinds, the angle below the horizontal Is 140 (slope 25%).
5.2 Watering spray pipe
The shower of water Is obtained using a 1½ In (38 nuii diameter) row i,ierced with holes of 2,0 nun diameter spaced at regular intervals of i30 mm ± 1 mm and positioned above the blind as shown in Figures 2a) and2b).
A unlfonu spraying requires a two 15)1111 ently of water to the spray pipe equidistant from the middle. The distance between the two ently points is between one4hird and one-half of the total pipe length. The pipe length shall be at least the width of the awning. If the awning width is less, It shall be positioned In the I1u(kIje of the water spray pipe. The cxliii holes shall be sealed.
5.3 Measuring equipment
An installation capable of measuring the water flow to ui accuracy of ±5%,
6 Test sample dimensions
6.1 Folding and trdHii arm hlind
Use the maximum dimensions (width and projection)
of the rnanufacturers specification for a pair of arms.
Siiia]ler sizes of awnings receive the same class.
6.2 Dutch awning
Use the maximum (Irniensions (width and projection) of the mwiiifactunrs specifwation for the niaxinnun distance betWeen the anus.
Smaller sizes of awnings receive the same class.
7 Tests
For adjustable blinds, measure an(I record the operating force P1. acconling to prEN 12046, piiorto the lest
With the flow of water set for the class being tested, the spraying is maintained for I li. In the ease of class 1: 17 1/(m2h), for di a 56 1/(m2•h) (surface = L X AL).
11w test method (frscrthed also applies to test the COETISI fiuwthnung of the (Inhinage holes where they exist
Once the showenng has stopped, the water has chinned and the fuhflc dried for 30 miii, measure the operdling force P1. as desenbed in prEN 12046.
8 Expression of results
— Failure, yes/no.
— Reconi iy (let noration.
— For a(1JILstabk bliruLs, reconi the value ol the
operating force P (after the fabtie has dried) and
