ASME A112.19.5:2005 pdf download Trim for Water-Closet Bowls, Tanks, and Urinals
GENERAL
1.1 Scope
This Standard establishes criteria for those items oftrim for water-closet bowls, tanks, and urinals knownas spuds, locknuts for spuds, flush valves, and flushelbows. Requirements for fill valves (ballcocks) aredefined in ANSI/ASSE 1002.
This Standard does not address the compatibility ofmaterials. Nothing stated herein shall preclude the production of special design flush alves with unique nonstandard features for use in low-consumption plumbingfixtures.
1.2 Units of Measurement
Values are generally stated in U.S. Customary unitsand International System of Units (SI). US Customaryunits shall be considered as the standard.
1.3 Reference Standards

1.4 Definitions
flush ualue flapper: an elastomeric flush valve componentthat combines in one piece a pair of lever arms, a valveseat sealing surface, and sometimes a float.
flush ualve senl: a flush valve component, typically elasto-meric that serves as the flush valve sealing componentA flush valve flapper is one type of flush valve seal.
2 DESIGN REQUIREMENTS
Thread dimensions shall be as given in Tables 1 and2 The information provided in Nonmandatory Appen-dix A is the result of a series of calculations that arespecified in ASME B1.20.1. Dimensions for regular andreducing spuds shall be as shown in Tables 1 and 2.Standard flush valves for gravity flush tanks shallconform to the dimensions of Fig.1.Thel.D.requirementin Fig. 1 is only applicable to aftermarket flush valvesFor water-closet tank manufacturers, the Overflow Testfor Gravity Tank requirement of ASME A112.19.2 shallapply.Flush elbows shall conform to the dimensions in Fig, 2
PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS
3.1 Dimensional Criteria for Spuds
Dimensions for spuds shall be as shown in Tables 1and 2. Thread dimensions shall be 2-11.5 NPSM-1, 111.5 NPSM-117-11.5 NPSM-and -14 NPSM-1 inaccordance with ASME B120.1.(All thread dimensionsare Class 1.) Thread dimensions shall be inspected usingring and plug gages.
3.2 Flush Valve – Means of Assembly
3.21 Threaded Attachment. If a flush valve isthreaded and is intended to be assembled to the fixtureusing a flush valve nut, either
(a) the threads shall be 2-11.5 NPSM Class 1 in accor-dance with ASME B120.1.They shall be inspected usingring and plug gages, or
(b) the flush valve and flush valve nut shall use analternate thread configuration which shall be capable ofbeing tightened to 10 1bf-ft (14 Nm) of torque, whentested in accordance with para. 4.1.
3.22 Nonthreaded Attachment. If a flush yalve is tobe assembled to the flush tank by any means other thana threaded attachment, it shall withstand a pull-out forceof 60 lbf (267 N) when tested in accordance withpara.4.2.
