EN 816-2017 pdf download.Sanitary tapware – Automatic Shut-off valves PN 10.
5.2 Identification
a) The control devices of single taps shall be identified by colour (for cold water by the colour blue; and for hot water, by the colour red) and/or letters and/or symbols.
b) The temperature control device for mixing taps shall be identifIed either by means of a scale and/or symbols and/or by colours (Cold water — blue and Hot water – red).
c) The direction of operation of the temperature control device of mixers shall be identified.
d) For taps with separate control devices, the cold water shall be on the right and the hot water on the left.
For water saving mixing tapware, appropriate information to installers and users shall he provided. The manufacturer shall explain letters, symbols, etc. in case they decide to use them.
6 Materials
6.1 Chemical and hygienic characteristics
All materials coming into contact with water intended for human consumption shall present no health risk nor cause any change of the drinking water in terms of quality, appearances, smell or taste.
6.2 Exposed surface condition and quality of coating
Visible chrome plated surfaces and Ni-Cr coatings shall comply with the requirements of EN 248.
7 Backflow protection
Automatic shut-off tapware shall comply with the specification for hygiene and backflow protection in
accordance with EN 1717. Check valves shall comply with EN 13959.
8 Dimensional characteristics
8.1 General
General comment on drawings:
The design and construction of components without defined dimensions permits various design solutions to be adopted by the manufacturer.
8.8 Nozzle outlets for use with flow rate regulators
Self-closing taps with flow rate regulators not conforming with EN 246 are covered by 8.9.
8.9 Special cases
8.9.1 Special taps and mixers for installation on horizontal surfaces
Taps and mixers intended for special applications e.g. for installation on sanitary appliances not conforming with European Standards, where dimensional interchangeability is not a requirement etc., etc.; can incorporate dimensional deviations, provided:
— all other requirements of this standard are satisfied;
— secure fixing to the mounting surface is provided with all fixing holes covered and watertight connections to the supplies achieved;
— water can be delivered without undue splashing
— the air gap dimension E  25 mm. If E is less than 25 mm an additional backflow prevention device is necessary in accordance with EN 1717;
— the manufacturer’s literature including the installation instructions supplied with the tapware, shall indicate clearly that this tapware is a special case.
8.9.2 Special taps and mixers for installation on vertical surfaces
Taps and mixers with a visible body intended for special applications when interchangeability is not a requirement can incorporate dimensional deviations, provided:
— all other requirements of this standard are satisfied;
— secure fixing and watertight connections to the water supply are achieved. If connection to the pipes is by means of a thread this shall comply with EN ISO 228-1;
— the manufacturer’s literature including the installation instructions supplied with the tapware, shall indicate clearly that this tapware is a special case.
9 Leaktightness characteristics
9.1 General
This clause specifies test methods for verifying the leaktightness of the tapware and gives the corresponding requirements.
Tests are carried out with cold water.
9.2 Leaktightness tests
9.2.1 Principle
The principle of the test consists oIchecking under cold water pressure the leaktightness of the tapware (body, head-body unit, etc.).
The control and shut-oft devices shall be designed in such a way that there is no likelihood of inadvertent opening occurring under normal service conditions.
9.2.2 Apparatus
A hydraulic test circuit capable of supplying the static and dynamic pressures required and of maintaining them throughout the duration of the test.
9.2.3 Leaktlghtness of tapware upstream of the obturator
9.2.3.1 Water test
9.2.3.1.1 Procedure
Connect the tapware to the test circuit with the outlet orifice open, and generally turned downwards.
With the obturator closed, apply a static water pressure at the inlet of the tapware of (1,6 ± 0,05) MPa ((16± 0,5) bar) for (60 ± 5) s.EN 816-2017 pdf download.
