1 Introduction
1.1 Scope This standard establishes test methods to determine if excessive damage or deformation of the conductor in a solderless wrapped connection has occurred as a result of the wrapping process.

2.1 Equipment
2.1.1 Microscope or equivalent, 7X magnification
3 Test specimen
3.1 Description The test sample shall consist of a wrap post cut £rom the connector in a manner to avoid damage to the free end of the post and to the wrapped connection. If the wrap post to be tested contains two solderless wrap connections, each connection may be tested and counted as a separate test sample.
4 Test procedure
4.1 The uncut end of the test sample post shall be securely held in a holding tool which grips the post securely but with visible clearance between the tool and the wire to be unwrapped; see figure 1 for a suggested tool.
4.2 The wire shall be unwrapped fiom the post by rotating the post while keeping the wire under sufficient tension to keep it approximately straight.
4.3 Care shall be taken to avoid additional twist or undue stress in the wire.
4.4 The wire shall be placed in an approximate straight orientation (allowing permanent deformation and curvature fiom the wrapping operation to remain) and examined for fiactures using 7X magnification.
