ASME MFC-6M:1998 pdf download MEASUREMENT OF FLUI D FLOW I N PIPES USI NG VORTEX FLOWMETERS
1 SCOPE
This Standard:
(a) describes vortex shedding flowmeters in whichalternating vortices are shed from one or more bluffbodies installed in a closed circular conduit;
(b) describes how the frequency of the vortex pairsis a measure of the flid velocity; how volume, massand standard volume flowrate is determined; and howthe total fluid that has flowed through the meter in aspecified time interval can be measured;
(c) applies only to fluid flow that is steady or variesonly slowly with time, is considered single-phased, andwhen the closed conduit is full;
(d) provides only generic information on vortex shed-ding fowmeters, including a glossary and a set ofengineering equations useful in specifying performance(e) describes the physical components of vortex shedding flowmeters and identifies the need for inspectioncertification,and material traceability:
() addresses phenomena that may negatively affectvortex detection as well as shift the K factor, anddescribes guidelines for reducing or eliminating theirinfluences; and
(g) provides calibration guidance.
