5.8 Frosting
If a defrosting cycle occurs before reaching the target temperature, the acoustic measurement shall start after the duration corresponding to the defrost cycle and the first 10 mm after the termination of this defrost cycle, when the heat pump is operating in heating mode (Interval D as defined In EN 16147), and provided that the requirement for Thw as specified in 5.2 is fulfilled. Otherwise, the procedure shall be restarted from the beginning.
If a defrosting cycle occurs during the acoustic measurement period, the procedure shall be restarted.
If a defrosting cycle occurs within 10 mm after the end of the acoustic measurement period, the measurement is considered valid for ducted units, lithe pressure drop remains constant within a tolerance of 10 % compared to the steady unfrosted behaviour of the unit. For other units, the procedure shall be restarted.
The restarting procedure is as follows:
— First, at the same initial temperature Tiniw;
— If the frosting occurs again, by changing the initial temperature by 2°C. The initial temperature shall be given in the test report.
5.9 Measurement of non-acoustic parameters
The measurement of temperatures and static pressures shall be reported and shall start at the time of the last draw-off before acoustic measurement and stop at the following draw-off.
5.10 Volume air flow rate and available external static pressure
5.10.1 Non-ducted units
For non-ducted units (see Figures A.1 to A.4 and Figures A.9 to A.12), no air volume flow rate measurement is required.
5.10.2 Ducted units
The air volume flow rate shall be measured according to EN ISO 5801 or any other method to measure
the air flow rate with an equal of higher precision method.
The external available pressure shall be measured during the acoustic test.
lithe airflow rate measurement does not produce any additional noise, it may be performed during the acoustic measurement. Otherwise, the volume airflow rate shall be determined after the test for the same external available pressure as measured during the acoustic test.
8 Installation of the unit
8.1 General
The heat pump shall be installed and connected for the test as recommended by the manufacturer in the installation and operation manual. Optional accessories (e.g., heating element) shall not be included in the test.
However, ilthe unit is sold in a package with a silencer as a single reference, the silencer shall be included in the ductwork, except when the duct end correction shall be applied (see exhaust air® and YJ),
The unit shall be installed on the floor (no pallet allowed), according to the manufacturer’s recommendations.
For all configurations (including the wall-hung products), the unit shall be located at a minimum of 1500 mm of any wall, away from any symmetry axis.
Units only designed to be hung on a wall shall be hung on a rigid tubular frame, away from any area which could radiate unwanted noise.
In the case of heat pumps consisting of several refrigeration parts (split heat pumps) the following installation conditions shall be complied for the tests:
a) each refrigerant pipe shall be installed in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions; the length of each pipe shall be between 5 m and 7,5 m;
b) the pipes shall be installed in a way that the difference in elevation does not exceed 2,5 m;
c) thermal insulation shall be applied to the pipes in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions;
d) unless constrained by the design at least half of the interconnecting lines shall be exposed to the outdoor conditions with the rest of the pipes exposed to the indoor conditions.BS/EN 12102-2-2019 pdf download.
