EN 10092-1-2003 pdf download.Hot rolled spring steel flat bars – Part 1: Flat bars – Dimensions and tolerances on shape and dimensions.
This Part of this European Standard specifies the nominal dimensions and the tolerances on dimensions and shapes of hot rolled steel flat bars for springs with three different types of profiles (A. B, and C). Formulas for calculation the moment of inertia are specified in annex A.
This standard is applicable only to spring steel flat bars produced from steel grades specified in EN
10089.
2 Normative references
This European Standard incorporates by dated or undated reference, provisions from other publications. These normative references are cited at the appropriate places in the text, and the publications are listed hereafter. For dated references, subsequent amendments to or revisions of any of these publications apply to this European Standard only when incorporated in it by amendment or revision. For undated references the latest edition of the publication referred to applies (including amendments).
EN 10079:1992, Definition of steel products.
EN 10089, Hot-rolled steels for quenched and tempered springs. -Technical delivery conditions.
3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this European Standard the terms and definitions given in EN 10079:1992 apply.
4 Designation
The designation of hot rolled spring steel flat bars shall comprise:
— the term Spring steel flat bar;
the number of this European Standard (EN 10092-1);
— type of profile A, B, or C:
— dimensions in mm (width x thickness x length (M. F or E, see Table 5));
— the number of the quality standard (EN 10089) and the steel name or steel number of the ordered steel.
EXAMPLE
The radius up to 40 mm is 8 mm and over 40 mm is 12 mm.
6 Tolerances on dimensions and shape
6.1 ThIckness (Q
The deviation from nominal thickness (I) shall be within the tolerance given in Table 4.
6.2 Width (b)
The deviation from nominal width (b) shall be within the tolerance given in Table 4.
6.3 Length (L)
Depending on the type of length the flat bars shall be cut to lengths to tolerances with Table 5.
6.4 Straightness (q)
The straightness shall comply with the requirements given in Table 4.
6.5 Corner radius (,) for Profile C only
The tolerance of the corner radius is given in Table 4.
6.6 Out-of-squareness (u)
The out-of-squareness u for profile C shall be within the tolerance given in Table 4.
7 Measurements
7.1 ThIckness and width
The thickness and width shall be measured at any point situated at least 150 mm from the end of the
flat bar.
7.2 Length
The length shall be measured as the longest length of the flat bar.
7.3 Straightness
When checking straightness for compliance with Table 4, dimension q1 shall be measured along the total length of the bar, L,, whereas q2 may be determined along any section of the bar, along a reference length L2 of 1000 mm (see Figure 4).EN 10092-1-2003 pdf download.
