4 Principle
The measurement of (lie mass of a test sample pre10Usiy (‘flL%hed to the required grain size, and the determination of its volume by the mercury displacement method with vacuum below 3 000 Pa residual pressure and preferably with a residual pressure of l33 Pa
5 Apparatus

6 Test samples
6.1 PreparatIon of test samples
The material to be tested shall consist ol fractions or groups of fractions of grains. however, laboratoi samples shall be pr(xluced from these fractions by sieving and commimltion to obtain a grain size of between 2 nun and 5,6 mm

6.2 Number of teNt samples
Thice at least tiuw test samples from the laboratory sample and cany out one detennination of built density on each test sample.
6.3 Mass of test samples

Dry the test sample to constant mass in the diying oven maintained at 110 DC ± 5°C, and allow It to cool to ambient temperature in the desiccator. Weigh the test sample to the nearest 0,1 g on the balance. This gives the nass, in grams, of the dried test sample (mp)
