EN 707-2018 pdf download.Agricultural machinery – Slurry tankers – Safety.
4.2.3 Spreading or injecting boom
4.2.3.1 Swivelling components
The folding/unfolding operations shall not require a manual force greater than 250 N.
Booms that can be manually folded/unfolded shall be fitted with two handles located at a distance of at least 300mm from the nearest articulation. These handles may be integral parts of the boom, provided they are suitably designed and clearly identified.
In the case of powered operation, the control for the swivelling shall be of the hold-to-run type and the manual control shall be located outside the swivelling zone.
The folding/unfolding speed shall not exceed 0,5 rn/s when measured at the end of the boom. A device shall be provided to prevent the boom from moving when it is folded in the transport position. If the locking device isa hydraulic locking device it shall comply with of EN ISO 4254-1:2015, 4.11.3. The locking device and the boom folding/unfolding actions shall be controlled by separate systems. 4.2.3.2 Adjustment of the height of the boom
The manual force necessary to adjust the height of the boom shall not exceed 250 N.
Where height adjustment is by a winch, this winch shall be self-arresting and capable of withstanding at least a load equal to 2 times the weight of the boom.
Means used for adjustment of the height of the boom (e.g. wire ropes, cables) shall withstand at least a load 4 times the weight of the boom.
The winch shall be operable from the ground.
In the case of powered height adjustment, it shall be possible to actuate the manual control from the driving position and the control shall be of the hold-to-run type. To ensure the protection of the operator against crushing and shearing hazards related to a failure of the control circuit, the machine shall be fitted with a device which limits the maximum downward speed of the boom to 10 mm/s.
The boom shall he lockable in position for servicing and maintenance purposes.
The injecting devices shall be In contact with the ground before It is possible to operate the control for putting the injecting boom in floating position or in weight transfer position.
4.2.3.3 Emptying of the boom
It shall be possible to isolate the contents of the tank from the boom in order to allow the boom to be emptied in the low position for transport, maintenance or removal and storage.
42.3.4 Stability of the boom when parked and for manual handling
The boom shall be designed to be stable when parked according to the information in the instruction handbook on firm ground with an Inclination of at least 8,5° in all directions.
Where transport rollers are fitted to the boom for ease of manual handling when detached from the tanker, the boom and the location of these rollers shall be designed so that the boom is stable and will not overturn during such handling.
Compliance with this requirement shall be verified as follows: Place the boom, which has been parked in accordance with the information in the instruction handbook, on a horizontal and even plane. Then push it at a speed of 1 rn/s against a fixed rectangular obstacle 50 mm high with a length at least equal to the distance between the external transport rollers and located on the ground at a right angle to the direction of movement of the boom.
The boom shall remain upright.
On booms fitted with transport rollers for ease of manual handling, devices shall be provided for avoiding unintended rolling away.
4.2.4 Means of access and place to stand
If. during normal operation, access is required by the operator to the upper part of the tank (e.g. for access to opening(s), to routinely clean a tube style level indicator), means of access complying with EN ISO 4254-1:2015, 4.8 shall be provided.
Locations that need to be reached for the normal operation of the machine and are not accessible from the ground (e.g. distributor of drip hose boom, tank openings, cutting devices, foreign object separators) shall be equipped with access means and platforms according to EN ISO 4254-1:2015, 4.7.2 and 4.8.
Parts of the spreading or injecting boom shall not be used as handholds related to the means of access.
4.2.5 Hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical interconnections
When the hydraulic braking system of the tanker is intended to be coupled to the tractor service braking system, then the coupling defined in ISO 5676 shall be used. This coupling shall only be fitted in the braking circuit. For pneumatic braking, see ISO 1728:2006.
4.2.6 Stability and immobilisation of the tanker
4.2.6.1 Stability
4.2.6.1.1 Dynamic stability
During travelling, sufficient stability shall be provided. This requirement is deemed to be fulfilled if the static tipping angle is at least 23° about the most unfavourable axis of the machine.EN 707-2018 pdf download.
