1.DELETION OF“NATURAL”FROM THE TERM”NATURAL GRAY”
RATIONALE
UL 1230 currently requires that a wire intended to be grounded be identified by being either solid whiteor”natural gray
“Natural gray”is an undefined term that is no longer used in the National Electrical Code. Therefore ULproposes that the word “natura be deleted from the term “natural gray” in Table 7.1 of UL 1230. Eithergray or white will be equaly and interchangeably acceptable for the identifcation of a groundedconductor in wires.
This proposal is consistent with Article 200 of the National Electrical Code. ANSINFPA 70-2002
